King County Metro Transit;is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented;Rail Station Custodian;to be a contributing member of the Rail Facilities Management team. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of various rail stations, elevators, escalators, park and rides, and industrial facilities for the Link Light Rail system. This posting will fill more than one current career service vacancy and may be used to establish an eligibility list to fill future career service/and or long-term temporary vacancies (TLTs) or SDA’s,;that may occur over the next twelve months at the hiring manager's discretion.

Link Light Rail

Metro Transit's Rail Division is responsible for operating and maintaining Link Light Rail service on a 20 plus mile route from the Angle Lake Station south of Sea-Tac Airport to Northgate station in North Seattle. Plans and/or construction are underway extending the system to the north, east, south, and west. Expansion over the next five years alone will include the addition of more than 20 stations and 40 miles of light rail track. The light rail line is a critical part of the region's transportation network and carries more than 79,000 daily weekday riders.

Work Schedule:;This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.;Employees must be able to work any of the three shifts (day, swing, or graveyard/night).;Work schedule may include non- standard work hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Schedules are based on a seniority "pick" system and potentially can change every 6 months based on seniority. Per the union contract shift differential is paid to those working second and third shifts. Shift pay is 5% for second shift and 7.5% for third shift, on top of hourly pay.;The normal workweek is five 8-hour shifts per week, with two consecutive days off, but not necessarily weekends off. This is considered to be an essential position and is required to report to work during adverse weather and/or other urgent/emergency needs.;

Locations

Work typically involves responsibility for more than one Light Rail station or other facilities and will involve driving from station to station using our vehicles. Employees may report to any of the following locations: Operations and Maintenance Facility Central at 3407 Airport Way S, Seattle, our new Eastside campus Operations and Maintenance Facility Central at 1925 120th Ave NE Bellevue, or any other locations that may be added or changed in the future.
