What healthcare employers ask for, and what to have ready before your interview.

  1. License and certification numbers

    Have your RN, LPN or CNA license number and state on hand, plus BLS or ACLS card dates. Employers hiring for licensed roles will ask in the first minute.

  2. A resume that names the setting

    Med-surg, long-term care, home health, urgent care: say which, with unit size and patient ratios where you can. It is what a hiring manager scans for.

  3. Dates and references

    Exact start and end dates for each role, and two references who can be contacted this week. Healthcare offers move quickly once credentials check out.

  4. Your questions for them

    Shift pattern, orientation length, float expectations, differentials. Asking shows you know the job, and the answers decide whether the offer is right for you.

  5. Be ready for video, in person, or phone

    Your confirmation says which. For video, a quiet space and a camera test. For in person, the address and parking are in the confirmation; arrive ten minutes early. For phone, a number you can answer at the confirmed time.
